Filho's Acton

Very nice food.

Iced coffee is a lot tastier than their iced tea.

Get garlic bread w/o cheese.

H liked misto grillia.

L liked the 4 cheese pizza very much!!

Mandarin Reading Restaurant

We like the Mandarin Reading Restaurant very much. Our only advice is don't don't have egg drop soup.

Alden and Harlow

Alden and Harlow in Harvard Square is very good. Only don't order the almond cake, LOL.

Racha Thai in Worcester

Okay this is pretty far afield, but Racha Thai in Worcester is very good!
We liked everything we had, including cocktails, except for:

Mild is actually medium for the spicy dishes!
Don't order noodle soup or calamari

Virsa de Punjab

We like the newish Indian place, Virsa de Punjab, very much! In fact a lot more than Holi.

Bancroft in Burlington

Duck sandwich was good. Can ask for bread and butter.
$5 cup of soup was tasty. H thought her salad was good.

Iced tea only $3 with free refills.

Very good service. A bit pricey but maybe worth it for lunch?

Red Heat Tavern

Much better than we expected! Went for lunch, and enjoyed the vg fried calamari appetizer.

Good wrap, but next time I should ask for 'lots of clilatro' :)

Being a cheapskate, we should prolly split a 20oz beer.

H said the beet salad  was quite good.

Overall a bit expensive, but free refills for iced tea!

Holi

Holi is a newish Indian restaurant that replaced Dalya's. It's pretty good and seems very popular.
We've had the lunch buffet a few times. One thing that is nice is that a drink is included in the price.
I do wish they used a different color on the walls!

Al Fresca in Tewksbury

Al Fresca is an excellent Italian place in Tewksbury. We've been twice. Very rich. The risotto is probably the dish to order for lunch. A side salad is only $2. Soso decor. Not sure about the iced tea either, but not bad. Ask how much desserts are at lunch!

Moonstones

What a nice place in Chelmsford! We took the whole extended family for dinner and it was really good! Expensive but worth it. Recently just the two of us had lunch: beef carpaccio was very good if a bit small; crab salad was excellent; yummy shrimp risotto & great burger. Free iced tea refills, almost perfect service.

My only complaint is that the menu doesn't seem to vary.

The Capital Grille, Burlington

We have been to the Capital Grille in Burlington a few times for lunch. What a fabulous restaurant!
We have really enjoyed just about everything we've eaten here. L had a crock of onion soup last time and it was huge and quite nice for $10. The Cobb salad was very good but not amazing.

Free refills for iced tea.

Usually the service is phenomenal but last time we were not impressed with Margaret, our waitress.

Oh yeah, desserts are huge! We had a piece of cake which could easily have served 3. It was good. We have also tried the ice cream (or was it gelato?) and they were excellent!

Cucina D

We liked Cucina D over near the Bedford Glen. I had Linguine Carbonara which was vy good, and H had Osso Bucco, which was good and huge!

Maki Maki in Woburn

This is the restaurant that replaced the Far East Cafe'. Took a very long time to open and does have a very nice, modern decor. The food was pretty good for dinner albeit a bit slow. I was amused that a waiter at this sushi place did not know the word 'nigiri'.

We tried to go back with a friend on a weeknight and it was packed so we went elsewhere. I guess the word has gotten out that it's a good deal!

----

Most things are good here but we did not like the "Woburn Roll."

Vine Brook Tavern

Went to the Vine Brook Tavern in Lexington for lunch recently. Was okay, but for the price wouldn't go back for lunch. The aioli on my burger was too tame for me. The waitress wasn't attentive enough. Hated the calamari; big thick chunks.

Still we're looking forward to trying dinner here sometime.

RIP Far East Cafe

I can't believe we never posted about the Far East Cafe! What a great place it was. We loved the dim sum buffet on weekends, and most of the wait-staff were friendly. Their rice congee was excellent! Apparently they closed due to rent difficulties. I hope they re-open somewhere nice!

Lexx Restaurant

We like Lexx. It's a comfortable place and some of the food is good, albeit expensive. I think most American dishes we've had here have been good, but today we tried two asian dishes and didn't like either of them. The bread and butter are very good. Free iced tea refills, too.

We went back recently and I had a Reuben. Worst one I've had in a long time. I think the 'kraut' they used was house-made and imho not very good. Now we are wondering if they are just weak on ethnic foods.

The mainstream salad H had was very good though.

Good Thymes Family Restaurant

This place is about 20 minutes from Bedford. They have very good American food served by a friendly albeit sometimes slow staff. I had a turkey club last time with onion rings for 50 cents extra, yum! Mom had fried clam strips that were very good and a generous serving too.

Russell House Tavern

The Russell House Tavern in Harvard Square ( www.russellhousecambridge.com/) has very good food and is not too too expensive. The only problem we found is that it is an extremely loud place. H had a marrow bone and a side of creamed spinach: very good and okay. L had veal stew which was quite good.

It would probably be a sweet place to dine outside on a warm summer's eve!

Porcini's in Watertown

We loved our entrees here. L had a very nice risotto, and H had some duck, both from the nightly specials.

A bit expensive.

Seemed like a good choice for a weekend night-- no reservation needed.

Ka-noon Thai

We like this place better than its predecessor. The little mandatory salad is quite nice. We also like that they will let you substitute duck with almost any dish. H had the thunder noodles with duck and liked it. L's red curry with beef was a tad disappointing, but past curry dishes hear have been yummy here. The amount of heat seems to vary quite a bit.
